Cinema Union, one of Romania's oldest cinemas, called for an identity rooted in film history's most iconic symbol: the 35mm reel. We drew from basic geometric forms, the circle and the square, abstracting the film reel into a unique modular visual alphabet, both instantly recognizable and a meaningful addition to Bucharest's contemporary visual landscape. Inspired by socialist-era aesthetics, the modernist mark was reinterpreted for today, deliberately timeless enough to feel born in the 1960s, the 1980s, or 2030. We handled the full creative execution, from logo and motion identity to graphic systems and brand strategy, integrating vintage color palettes with archival textures, evoking the nostalgia of classic cinema while honoring the art form itself.
